Military Medal 'At Messines on 7th June, 1917 this NCO displayed great coolness and courage in reconnoitring for sites for Strong Points, and marking them out under heavy shell fire. Later when the working party was heavily shelled, he set a fine example of coolness and courage which materially assisted the completion of the work.'
