Embarked Wellington, 15 February 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 26 April 1917, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 26 May 1917; joined 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 18 June 1917, and posted to C Company.

Wounded in action, 29 June 1917 (gun shot wound, foot and shoulder), and admitted to No 4 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 3 July 1917; to No 9 Australian Field Ambulance, 3 July 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 22 July 1917.

Found guilty, 28 August 1917, of being absent from billet: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
