Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume 25th August 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty. During the advance on Avesnes this NCO was detailed at very short notice to
take command of a platoon to capture a strong point held by four machine guns. He organised his platoon and conducted the operation in a very successful manner resulting in the capture of the strong point. The determination with which he carried out the enterprise was a fine example to his men.'
