Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of his platoon. He established a forward post with great skill, afterwards taking command of his company and re-establishing several posts which had been driven out. He made personal reconnaissances under heavy fire, although at one time rendered unconscious by the explosion of a heavy shell.'
