Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Colincamps on the Ancre on 5th April 1918, the enemy in superior force attacked our line. The trench occupied by this NCOs, platoon was subjected to severe bombardment and suffered some
casualties. When the platoon Officer had been wounded, Sergeant Dixon took command and led his men forward out of the trench. As the infantry attack developed he rushed still further forward with his men, and later, when there was a
possibility of the outer flank of his company being threatened, he worked them round in the open and lined a hedge to protect the flank. Throughout he worked his platoon with great skill and daring, and by his personal example inspired his men to the accomplishment of deeds of equal gallantry and dash.'
