Military Medal 'During the attack on Messines Ridge on 7th June 1917, before crossing our front line, the senior NCOs of his platoon were out of action, and he then showed great skill in leading half the platoon through the barrage, and afterwards greatly assisted in establishing a post on the Black Dotted Line. He carried out a valuable reconnaissance of the Green Chain Line, exhibiting great courage. He has done
good service at the Somme and in raids.'
