Embarked Wellington, 14 March 1917; admitted to ship's hospital, 24 April 1917 German measles); discharged from ship's hospital, 9 May 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 21 May 1917, and marched in to Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 21 June 1917; joined 1st Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 9 July 1917.

Attached to No 3 Field Company, New Zealand Engineers, in the field, 28 September 1917; returned to unit, in the field, 23 October 1917.

Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 12 November 1917, and transferred same day to NZ Stationary Hospital, Wisques; to 54th (London) General Hospital, Boulogne, 16 November 1917; to England, 9 December 1917, and admitted same day to Mile End Military Hospital. Transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 11 January 1918.

Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital (Venereal Disease Section), Codford, 8 February 1918; discharged from VD Section, 14 March 1918; attached to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 March 1918.

Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 18 May 1918 (mumps); discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 31 May 1918.

Classified unfit by Medical Board, 24 August 1918 (neurasthenia), and placed on NZ Roll.

Commenced return to New Zealand from Avonmouth on board HT 'Papapoa', 13 September 1919; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service), 16 September 1920.
