'For specially good work and devotion to duty during the period 23rd September 1917 to 24th February 1918. This NCO has at all times carried out his work most satisfactorily and while the Battalion has been in Ypres Sector he has set his men a splendid example for courage and coolness under fire. He has always been one of the first to help wounded men to a place of safety.'
