Medaille Militaire (France) 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Messines on 7th June 1917 and at Gravenstafel on 4th October 1917 he was the Regimental Medical Officer's
Orderly. In both battles he performed his duty under very heavy shell fire with great coolness. He collected many wounded and brought them to the regimental aid post and carried forward messages under heavy fire. He was of the greatest
assistance to the Regimental Medical Officer and set a very high example.'
