Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume 25th August 1918. For gallant conduct and devotion to duty. In the early part of the attack our advance was temporarily held up by an enemy machine gun 50 yards to our front. This NCO located its position and in company with three others rushed the post, killing two and capturing six prisoners and the machine gun. After the advance continued he showed great initiative in dealing with further positions of enemy resistance.'
