Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the morning hours of 5th April 1918, in the neighbourhood of Auchonvillers, Private Crowther displayed exceptional gallantry and devotion to duty. He was employed as a stretcher bearer, and the area in which he had to work was very heavily shelled for about five hours. Throughout this period Private Crowther attended to the wounded, and made several trips to the regimental aid post, which was nearly a mile away. During these trips he was exposed to great danger, but continued his work, and his gallant conduct was of great assistance in removing the wounded, and a splendid example to the Company.'
