Distinguished Conduct Medal 'On 29th September, 1919, at Welsh Ridge, after the objectives had been reached, it was discovered that a party of nine of our men had pushed forward and were
practically surrounded by the enemy. On his own initiative he worked forward reached the party, of which he took command, on his way back mopping up an
enemy party, capturing four, killing three, and inflicting heavy casualties on the remainder.'
