Mentioned in Despatches

'For gallantry and devotion to duty. Private Creed has been attached to Brigade Headquarters for duty under the Brigade Grenade Officer since 12th January 1917. In ordinary trench warfare he has been most energetic and untiring in his efforts to assist Battalions in maintaining their supplies of S.A.A. and Grenades. During the Messines operations, he assisted in establishing the Brigade Grenade Dump, and under very heavy shell fire kept units supplies with trench ammunitions. His work in this connection was also most conspicuous during the capture of La Basse Ville.'

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry at Gravenstafel on 23rd October 1917. While acting as Store man in charge of forward Brigade Dump, he and Private Dean were fusing Mills Bombs, when two of the Bombs exploded, seriously wounding Private Dean and fusing the other Grenades in the Box. Private Creed at great personal risk, removed the box before the other Grenades exploded, and thus saved the total loss of the Dump. He completed his work at the Dump whilst subjected to heavy shell fire the whole of the time.'
