Mention in Despatches 'For gallantry and initiative. During operations near Crevecoeur on the 29th September, and 1st October this Officer acted as Battalion Intelligence Officer. On two different occasions he made reconnaissance's for assembly grounds, for the Battalion to commence the attack, under conditions of great difficulty and danger. He arranged all details for the use of his scouts as guides for the Battalion, and despite the worst conditions of enemy shelling, darkness, and weather, the Battalion reached its assembly ground without a hitch, though on both occasions a
march of several miles over unknown ground had to be made. His services were of inestimable value to his Unit.'
