Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field at Briastre on 11th and 12th October 1918. This soldier was a Battalion Runner during the above operations and displayed great courage in binging in reports concerning the progress of the fighting. He was under constant artillery and machine gun fire and was often exposed to great danger, but he maintained a cool courage under fire which enabled him to carry out his work expeditiously and well. His conduct throughout the operations was most exemplary and an inspiration to his fellow runners.'
