Military Medal 'For courage and devotion to duty on 20 September 1916 on Longueval-Flers Road. While bringing up ammunition to guns under shell fire, the wagons of which he was in charge came under fire, several men and horses being wounded. He had the wounded men and horses removed from the danger area, and managed to get the wagons through to the guns under shell fire, with what remaining drivers and horses he had. His behaviour was a splendid and fine example to the men under his charge.'
