Military Medal 'At Hill 63 on the afternoon of the 6th June 1917. The enemy were heavily shelling the battery position on top of the Hill. The men had been ordered to vacate the position, when the next shell set fire to a gun pit. Bombardier Cooke, at once seized a bucket, dashed to a neighbouring pool for water, and unaided,
extinguished the flames, in spite of the fact that the position was all the time being heavily shelled.'
