Military Medal 'Operations opposite Polderhoek 27th November to 5th December 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations opposite
Polderhoek this Company Runner carried out his duties with great gallantry. Twice between the hours of 1pm and 3pm on 3rd December, he carried urgent messages through intense artillery and machine gun barrages and was able to give on both occasions a most valuable description of what he had seen, and informed his Commanding Officer what was holding up the different detachments. As on previous operations, this man only showed again his sterling qualities as a soldier, and his consistent courage under heavy fire.'
