War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 12 April 1915. Wounded in action, 28 April 1915 (gun shot wound, right wrist); admitted to Kosr el Aini Hospital, Cairo, 1 May 1915. Embarked Alexandria for Gallipoli, 23 May 1915; rejoined Bn, 26 May 1915. Admitted to 16th Casualty Clearing Station, 10 August 1915 (fractured toe); transferred to England, 14 August 1915; disembarked Southampton, 23 August 1915. Taken on strength, NZ Base Depot, Greytowers (Hornchurch), 14 February 1916. Having been absent for more than six months is struck off strength of Bn, 4 March 1916.
