Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during the attack against Messines on 7th June 1917. This man was attached as a Runner to No. 3 Section New Zealand Divisional Signal Company during the attack. During the whole operation displayed great coolness and gallantry while conveying important messages through heavy shell barrages. It was mainly by his devotion to duty that communications were kept open throughout the action. His conduct and work since he was attached to the Unit has been on the highest possible standard.'
