Military Medal 'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty, in operations east of Ypres, on the 4th October 1917. Sergeant Anderson was in charge of his platoon and did the mopping up, up to the final objective. This N.C.O. set a splendid example of cheerfulness and devotion to duty, to his platoon, and these about him. During the advance he was "knocked out" by a bursting shell, but quickly recovered, and immediately carried on again, and it was largely owing to his efforts that the mopping up was so successful.'
