'At Messines on 7th June, 1917, this N.C.O. soon after Messines was captured assisted in the search for water supplies within and around the town, remaining there for a period of about five hours. During this time there was heavy shelling carried on, which rendered movement extremely hazardous. Throughout it all Anderson carried out his duties with coolness and courage and carried out a most valuable piece of work.'
