Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. During the attack near Gravenstafel on 4th Oct. 1917, he displayed gallant conduct and bravery, as a Company Stretcher bearer. Although wounded under the eye, early in the action he continued to attend wounded, under dangerous and difficult conditions, thereby setting a sterling example of determination and gallant conduct to his comrades.'
