Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during the actions of 25th and 27th September 1916, at Goose Alley (Somme) when he repeatedly went out under a very heavy artillery barrage and repaired the telephone wires which were continually being broken, thus enabling communication to be kept up. In view of the nature of the enemy
fire the action of this NCO was of a particularly gallant nature. Sergeant Clancy was in charge of the signalling section, his officer being killed in the attack and not only showed absolute disregard of danger but by example inspired the linesmen to
meritorious action on their own part.'
