Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 8th October, 1918 during a Company advance in the neighbourhood of Lesdain a flank guard section was put out of action by hostile machine guns. Lance Corporal Childs worked his section skillfully round the flank of the machine guns and destroyed the crews with enfilade fire, thus enabling the Company to advance without further casualties.'
