Military Cross 'For marked gallantry and devotion to duties. On 23rd October, 1918, in the operations near Salesches, he led his platoon to the attack under heavy machinegun fire, and when close to the enemy fire he charged, routing the enemy, killing many and capturing the remainder. He then led his platoon on to the final
objective, and though severely wounded on the way, he remained at duty till it was
captured.'
