Proceeded overseas to France, 25 September 1918; joined 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 30 September 1918, and posted to B Company.

Wounded in action, 1 November 1918 (gun shot wound, abdomen and left thigh); admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 2 November 1918, and transferred to 21st Casualty Clearing Station.

Died of wounds, 3 November 1918.
