Wounded in action (second occasion), 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, left leg: severe), and admitted same day to 77th Field Ambulance, and thence to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 30th General Hospital, Rouen, 8 June 1917; to England, 12 June 1917, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; attached to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 18 August 1917.
