Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At the assault on Belle Vue Ridge on October 12th, throughout the Advance this non-commissioned officer showed great courage, capability and initiative under very heavy fire. When all his Officers had become casualties, he quickly reorganised his company and consolidated the position.'
