Military Medal 'For bravery and devotion to duty at Le Quesnoy on 4th November 1918. Anderson accompanied his platoon officer who was detailed to make a reconnaissance and report on condition of a road which it was necessary to put in repair immediately the infantry had gained their objective. The troops detailed to mop up Le Quesnoy were held up on account of heavy machine gun fire from the ramparts. Nevertheless this Anderson went forward with his officer and returned with important information. All through the operation he displayed great coolness and an utter disregard of danger.'
