Admitted to HMT 'Southland', 9 May 1915 (gunshot wound right arm); trasnferred to Imfarta Hospital, Malta, 18 May 1915; to Pembroke Convalescent Camp, 29 June 1915; rejoined unit, Dardanelles, 9 September 1915. Disembarked Alexandria with unit, 29 December 1915. Transferred to No.2 Machine Gun Company, 1 March 1916. Transferred to No.1 Machine Gun Company, 13 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 April 1916. Accidentally wounded, in the field, 22 September 1916 (gunshot wound, eyes); admitted to No.1 NZ Field Ambulance, 23 September 1916; to No.11 General Hospital, Camiers, 23 September 1916; to England, 28 September 1916; to No.1 Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, 30 September 1916. Court of Inquiry, 24 October 1916, found 'that the injuries suffered by 10/951 Pte L.M. Carr were caused by an explosion. There is no evidence to show how the explosion occurred and no blame is attributed to anyone. The soldider was on duty at the time the accident took place.'
