Appointed Lance Corporal, 13 September 1917. Wounded in action, 4 October 1917 (gun shot wound, neck), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 44th Casualty Clearing Station; to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 6 October 1917; to England, 11 October 1917, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 16 October 1917.Attached to strength of NZ Command Depot, Codford, 16 November 1917; to 3rd (Reserve) Bn, Sling Camp, 26 February 1918.
