Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, right leg, right foot: slight), and admitted to 77th Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station; to 35th General Hospital, Calais, 8 June 1917; to England, 12 June 1917, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst.

Classified 'unfit' by Medical Board, 6 July 1917, and placed on NZ Roll.

Commenced return to New Zealand on board HS 'Marama', 14 July 1917; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of wounds received in action), 22 November 1917.
