Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the night 29/30th September 1918, near Vaucelles this NCO was sent out with a patrol to gain touch with the enemy. He very skillfully led his patrol into an enemy trench where he discovered an enemy post. He himself rushed the post, captured one of the sentries, and killed one of the garrison while the remainder fled. The patrol then pushed forward 1500 yards till it reached the Vaucelles bridgehead. Here Lance Sergeant Cameron made a valuable reconnaissance and brought his patrol back safely. The valuable work carried out by this NCO enabled the Company to advance and hold the bridgehead without casualties. He set a splendid example to all ranks.'
