Wounded in action, 21 September 1916 (gun shot wound, elbow), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 38th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to Ambulance Train No 20; admitted to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 23 September 1916; transferred to England, 24 September 1916, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, 25 September 1916.
