Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a section leader. When a machine gun with a strong crew threatened to hold up the advance of his company he moved to a flank and reached a position from which he rushed in with two men, captured the gun and killed the crew, ten in number.'
