Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field near Briastre on 12th October, 1918. When the enemy counter attacked this man took charge of his section, and by example, initiative and daring, successfully repelled the enemy, who had worked round a flank and delivered their attack from the rear, while the section was digging in. His prompt action undoubtedly saved a most awkward situation.'
