Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When under a heavy fire of rifles and machine-guns, he pushed his guns forward and skillfully placed them so that they were enabled to inflict very severe losses on the enemy and prevented an attack, thereby enabling the infantry to deploy into position at a critical moment.'
