Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In the assembly he led his company with great skill and coolness quickly and quietly into position under
heavy shell fire and adverse conditions. In the attack he led his company with great gallantry until he was wounded. His contempt of danger and cheerfulness under heavy fire were a fine example to all ranks.'
