Wounded in action, 15 September 1916 (shrapnel wound, leg), and admitted to 1/1 South Midlands Division Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 23rd General Hospital, Etaples, 19 September 1916; to England, 26 September 1916, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 28 September 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 16 December 1916.
