Meritorious Service Medal 'Operations: Bellevue Spur 4th October 1917 to 20th October 1917. For devotion to duty. During the above operations this man acted as a company runner. He
always showed remarkable keenness and devotion to duty. In addition to delivering his despatches with promptitude, he was always able to give the recipients of his messages valuable and accurate information gained from his own personal observation. In this way he kept everybody informed as to the course of events, and set a splendid example of energy and initiative.'
