Meritorious Service Medal 'This NCO was on Gallipoli and has served continuously in the Field from April 1916 to the present date. He acted as Company Quartermaster Sergeant until appointed Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant in February 1917. He has performed his duties faithfully and well, during the whole of this period. Almost daily he has accompanied the rations to the Battalion when in the line, and his duties
frequently necessitated his being under heavy shell fire, he has been himself been unwell and performed his duties in a most excellent manner, no matter how hard or trying the conditions have been.'
