Military Medal 'For remarkable daring and skill during the attack on the enemy's positions near Gouzeaucourt Wood on the 12th September 1918. Corporal Wood showed great initiative in using his Lewis gun during the advance and capture of the objective. Afterwards he pushed forward with a Fighting Patrol to exploit the success and assisted in accounting for the whole of the enemy Support Company. He fired his Lewis gun from the hip while moving along the top of the trench, inflicting heavy casualties. Afterwards with his Gun he covered the return of the Patrol and the prisoners across 800 yards of enemy country to our lines.'
