Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty. On October 23rd and 24th 1918, he carried messages from his section Commander to the Company Headquarters
through machine gun fire and shell fire on several occasions and by his intelligent appreciation of the situation was always able to give additional and useful information on the aspect of affairs which was of great value to his Officers in such quickly changing situations. He has previously done splendid work in always courageously carried out his duties with alacrity and cool contempt of danger.'
