Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Bapaume and Bancourt from 24th August to 31st August 1918. Acting as Company Runner, since the commencement of the advance, this man carried messages daily through intense shelling and machine gun fire, both forward and rear, showing great gallantry and devotion to duty. On the evening of 30th August, whilst carrying a message to Battalion HQ, he was wounded, but delivered his message before reporting to the regimental aid post.'
