War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Joined Bn at Gallipoli, 8 June 1915, and posted to 14th Company. Disembarked Alexandria, 27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Transferred to Machine Gun Company, 1st Infantry Brigade, Moascar, 1 March 1916. Proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 6 April 1916. Found guilty, 17 November 1916, of being absent from billet from 8 November 1916 and not being in possession of a pass: awarded 4 days' Field Days' Punishment No 2. Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 8 March 1917 (mumps), and transferred to 7th General Hospital, St Omer; rejoined unit, in the field, 29 March 1917. Admitted to N9o 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 18 April 1917 (scabies); rejoined unit, 29 April 1917. Appointed Lance corporal, 15 August 1917. Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
