Mentioned in Despatches 'For distinguished and gallant services and devotion to duty during the period September 25th, 1917, to midnight, February 24/25th, 1918. Sir D. Haig's despatch of the 7th April 1918.'
Source: London Gazette Date: Distinguished Service Order 'This Officer has now left me on promotion to Major, but I cannot too strongly recommend that he receive a decoration, I have several times forwarded his name for conspicuous good and gallant work under most trying circumstances, and his work at Passchendaele added more to his already excellent record. He has served as R.M.O. with the Artillery almost his total service on Gallipoli and in France, and is one of the best types of R.M.O. At Passchendaele, he established an advanced aid post, and took turns of duty with another M.O., Captain Tweed. His care of the
wounded under all circumstances here as at other times during his service cannot be too highly praised. I know of several occasions on which he has gone out through severe shelling to attend wounded of his own Brigade and also Infantry.'
