Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an offensive he was invaluable as company commander, in maintaining touch with the brigade
headquarters, and other company commanders when telephone communication was impossible owing to heavy shell fire. He carried out his duties for several hours in a very exposed position, and with complete disregard of personal safety.'
