Mentioned in Despatches

'This non commissioned officer has shown great devotion to duty since the arrival of his Battalion in France, especially during the operations round Flers on the 15th and 16th September. He led his platoon with gallantry and dash. Seeing that a Lewis gun team had been either killed or wounded he took charge of the gun, using it with very good effect.'
