Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Hebuterne on the 15th July 1918, when his company was engaged in a minor operation and his platoon had reached its objective he took a patrol forward 200 yards into the enemy?s next line of
trenches. Seeing the enemy were more or less demoralised his reorganised his party worked down and cleared about 300 yards of trench killing some five or six of the enemy and establishing his post in this forward position. Sergt Bray rendered valuable service to his company throughout the operations and by his splendid bearing and personal bravery set an example to all ranks. His fearlessness was only equal by his fine initiative and admirable dash.'
